Our Data Policy
If we’ve communicated with you about an enquiry, an order or something else, we’ll keep a record of that to help us in any future correspondence. A typical example would be to using a previous email to quickly help find a customer’s software licence - or checking to see if we made a recommendation or suggestion about a particular product in the past.
We record some data to understand how users interact with our website and systems. This helps us understand if part of our website is broken or hard to use, how likely it is that our email has been received or when we’re not responding to customers at the right time of day. We’re not in the business of selling data, we only use data to make our business run more smoothly and improve our customers’ experiences. We don’t generate or store data relating to personal tastes, beliefs or opinions.
We believe that one of the best ways to protect data is to store as little as possible. We do not store credit card information, dates of birth or other critical data. All passwords are one-way encrypted and the information we store about our customers is limited to their dealings with us directly - through sales or contact.
We employ multiple firewalls in all our operating environments - both our web servers and our own machines and business premises. We are PCI DSS compliant in our credit card handling and sensitive payment data is held by organisations best equipped to do this; in our case this means Worldpay, SagePay and PayPal.
